4 Ways to Stay Accountable and Reach Your Fitness Goals
No matter how motivated you are, everyone has days when hitting snooze wins over hitting the fitness studio. But if you have accountability, you might think twice about letting down that friend that dragged her butt out of bed and is waiting for you.
Accountability can take many forms and it's important to find one that works for you. Here are four options.
1. Find a fitness buddy. If you don't have a friend that exercises where and when you do, start making friends with the ladies you see in your classes on a regular basis. If they are there all the time, chances are they will be good at motivating you to stick to your schedule!
2. Check-in with a coach. It's a scientific fact that working with a coach ups your success rate. Schedule a meeting with a Sphericality coach and make a plan to stay accountable.
3. Use an app to track your progress. Apps like “my fitness pal” are great for visually tracking what you eat and when you exercise. Be sure to go back and review your previous day's entries to get a complete picture of your progress. Just putting in what you eat, but never analyzing it, won't do you much good. I'd recommend using this in conjunction with #1 or #2 – the human element really helps you stay motivated when it comes to making lifestyle changes.
4. Establish a set of “fitness rules.” Write your rules down as if you've already accomplished them. For example: “I do not eat fast food,” or “I exercise six days a week.”
The bottom line? Finding some way to stay accountable and track your progress gives you a greater chance of success in achieving your goals.
